The term Weight Loss to most is considered as Loss of Body Fat. Weight Loss can come in a broad meaning. Loss of body fluid, muscle mass, bone mass and body fat of course are some of loss that can contribute to Loss of weight.

Weight Loss may happen to a person with or without intention.

 

If you intend to loose weight, you probably have one or more of the reasons stated below to go for this regime:

  • to improve health in order to be more healthy

  • to improve fitness level in order to be more competitive in engaging physical needs

  • to improve appearance in order to be more attractive for female

  • to improve mobility in order to have faster respond when body weight decreases

  • to reduce food intake for financial reasons

When a person loose weight unintentionally, it may be due to one or more of the reasons below:

  • consume less food than the calories that was burnt out

  • dehydrated. A person may loose up to 2 to 5% of his body mass if dehydration left unchecked.

  • developed cancerous cells in his body particularly gastrointestinal disorder. Cancer remain the most common reason for a victim to loose weight unintentionally.

  • acute diarrhea. Extreme cases my loose up to 2 to 5% of body mass too.

  • developed AIDS (Acquire Immune Deficiency Syndrome). The victim may not know he had developed AIDS but if weight loss comes unexplained, it is better to blood test for this symptom.

  • unexpected rise in metabolism. When there is a sudden change in metabolism and if we still consume the same amount of food, there is a possibility of weight loss shock.

  • all kinds of diseases such as connective tissue disease, dementia, neurologic disease, pulmonary disease, cardiac disease with congestive heart failure, renal disease and the list goes on.

  • stress. Stress will use more energy than normal

  • hormonal disruptions which may activate your body mechanism.

  • the unconscious act of fidgeting due to boredom or nervousness.
