What is Erectile Dysfunction?

 

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is characterized by the inability to achieve and maintain an erection in the man's penis for sexual performance. It is also called Male Importance in some instances.

 

ED happens to about 10 to 15 in every 100 men at age varies from 40's onwards. As a man aged, the ability to achieve erection is harder compare to a younger person.

 

What Causes Erectile Dysfunction to happen?

  • stress: stress control the mind so does the man's libido

  • depression or anxiety

  • health: there are numerous reason for the inability. The main ones are:

    • diabetic: being diabetic reduces the ability to maintain erection up to 30%

    • low blood pressure: insufficient blood pressure is unable to develop or maintain an erection.

    • high blood pressure (hypertension): excessive blood pressure causes damage to the micro arteries in the penis. About 40% of Erectile Dysfunction men have hypertension.

    • imbalance diet: maintaining proper diet is essential to acquire healthy libido

    • smoker: smoking reduces men's libido to a certain extend. Smoking extra menthol cigarettes make it even worst

    • drinker: a drinker has less sensitive nerves. Their sensory agent do not perform at the optimum.

    • lack of sleep will determine the eagerness to perform intercourse.

    • cholesterol level: high cholesterol level deters optimum erection.

    • being overweight

  • lack of physical exercise: physical fitness helps to maintain healthy and fitness body shape.

  • too much physical exercise of certain sports like cycling: it is not the cycling that makes the person become ED but the way the cyclist is seated and the pressure is placed on the urethra artery when seated upright on the cycle seat. This main artery carries pressure blood to the penis.

  • nerve disorder/ blood vessel size: bigger vessel carries more blood

  • excessive use of certain medication: hypertension medication tends to reduces blood pressure which translate to lesser erection.

  • treatment to the genital area

  • blood pressure medication: thinning of blood will most likely to cause reduced blood pressure

  • condition of the body: lack of sleep and rest is most likely to determine the level of Erectile Dysfunction in men
