What Is The Relevance For Exercise, Fitness And Diet Today Compare To Our Grand Parent's Time?

 

During our last 2 generations, our grandparents didn't have the problem with obesity and weight loss. Neither do they have to go to the gym or the need to think about ways to exercise. What happened now after 2 generations of speedy industrialization?

 

Our grandparents did not have the problem with having to exercise, fitness and diet problem at all. With the advancement of elevators, dish wash, washing machine and of course more road and better transportation, human now do not need to work the extra calories today.

 

We have thousands of television channels and whole lots of computer games together with audio and video capabilities. These technology advancement have led human to be less active and less mobile. Physical activities become less. Even banking or paying bills are just a button away from your computer.

 

The diet our ancestors consume compare to what we have today are totally different. In those olden days, we have not heard of trans fat. There were so much less processed food like chips or sodas like we have now.

 

Our Exercise, Fitness and Diet have changed to a different level. We no longer can use the same old approach to attain the health level that our grand parents used to enjoy. Let's look at how each of these exercise, fitness and diet will do to your health and what do they mean to you when you put them in practice.

 

Exercise:

Exercise is needed to strengthen our mental and physical body. They are most needed because:

  • with exercise, our heart is able to have a good workout once in a little while to strengthen the muscle

  • a way to release our body toxin through sweating

  • to burn the extra calories stored in our body as fat

  • to strengthen our bones

  • to maintain and built our muscles

  • to improve our blood circulation

  • to nourish all cells with oxygen with the extra activities

Fitness:

We have to attain a certain level of fitness in our life in order to be independent with uninterrupted mobility. The type of fitness that we need is:

  • physical fitness is the ability to do something at your own ability without handicap due to insufficient strength

  • cardiorespiratory fitness refers to the level of aerobic within yourself

  • biological fitness is the ability to propagate for both male and female

  • rest in which a component to help restore and rebuilt our fitness

Diet:

Diet is the management of fuel to your entire body system. How, where, when and what we consume are going to determine our outcome. They will be reflected in our body shape and size at the same time the determination of our health. An overview of a healthy diet consist of:

  • low in fat intake especially trans fat

  • low in sugary and sodium concentrated food

  • as much on natural foods; the less process the food have to go through the much better it is

  • taking care of how much we need and how much we consume. Calories balance on day to day and week to week is important to weight gain or loss.

  • having protein in every meal to curb hunger and cravings to prevent over eating

  • keeping hydrated all the time with pure water, not the sodas

  • consuming variety of vegetables and low fructose fruits to supplement minerals and fibers

  • watching the time to take your meal. You are not encouraged to consume diet high in starch within 5 hours before your sleep.

The exercise that we perform, the fitness level that we have and the diet that we take now is of total change compare to what our grand parents used to enjoy. We need to adapt to what we have because of the way we cook, the way our food are processed, the depletion of our soil quality and water quality.
