How Much Cholesterol Is Recommended In Your Diet?

I would say you don't need any Cholesterol food in your intake. In fact you should try to refrain from taking further 'cholesterolted' food. We already bombarded our diet with more than enough Bad Cholesterol in almost every single meal.

How Much Cholesterol did FDA recommended? They recommended less than 300mg daily. With this figure is taken into consideration, whenever we fry 2 eggs with soya, corn or palm cooking oil and a serving of potato chips, the amount has already come close to 200mg of trans fatty cholesterol. This is already too much for 1 serving.

In actual fact, we do not need to take in extra Cholesterol. Our body system is able to produce Cholesterol naturally.

Cholesterol Functions:

  • for the formation of cell membranes and hormones

  • production of steroid hormones- testosterone, estrogen and cortisone

  • to help transport fat around the body

  • help to create Vitamin D with some sunshine on our skin

  • needed to synthesize in the liver

How Much Cholesterol do we need that available in our body depends on:

  • age- the older we get, the the less manageable cholesterol will be

  • diet- prevention is better than cure. Eating less trans fatty asid food such as fried or baked using hydrogenated oil is bad. Instead eat more steamed or raw food.

  • state of health- when our body health is at it's optimum, we have a better chance to manage our cholesterol level naturally

  • how much rest we had the previous day- more rest usually translate to better state of health

  • level of fitness- exercise will make our body in better shape. A good blood circulation disposes more Bad Cholesterol (LDL) than a weak blood circulated body.

  • stop smoking!

Since we know that our body produce our own Cholesterol (usually the bad ones: LDL), then we have to concentrate on increasing the good Cholesterol (HDL). We can't control the bad but we can control the good ones. Practice good body governance and good habit on your diet. Have a Lipid Studies Test.

Your test results should fall within these level:

  • Total Cholesterol less than 5.2mmol/L

  • Triglycerides less than 1.7mmol/L

  • HDL Cholesterol more than 1.03mmol/L

  • LDL Cholesterol less than 2.58mmol/L

  • Total Cholesterol/HDL Cholesterol Ratio less than 5.0 times

These are the guideline readings from the test you have taken. You should not worry too much when you achieve the figures shown. It means you are a healthy person with good Cholesterol Management. How ever, the last test you should take is Stress Test.
