Why Asthma Inflammation Is A Big Concern?

Asthma inflammation
Asthma is like finger and finger nails with the processes of inflammation and smooth muscle contraction. Inflammatory cells are small, moveable cells that accumulate in the inflamed areas of the body. Eosinophils and neutrophils are all inflammatory cells that thrives in our body.
Inflammatory mediators are the chemicals that control the process of inflammation in all parts of our body. Histamine and cytokines are the inflammatory mediators that are actively evolve in our body.
Inflammation is our body's natural process to respond towards injury, abrasion or appearance of foreign matters. For asthma, the foreign matters that cause inflammation may be dust, smoke, pollen, house dust mites and sudden change of temperature. Every individual person may react differently on the seriousness or concentration of these matters that will activate the inflammation.
For Asthma case, our immune system sends white blood cells to protect the foreign matter invasion. These inflammatory cells work out to release histamine and cytokines to the airways. The airways then inflamed and produces mucus. This process is to get rid of the foreign invaders with the help of the mucus. Sometimes we cough out as phlegm. Patients with asthma problem will activate the smooth muscle. These smooth muscle that lines the airway are sensitive to the histamine and cytokines. They tightens upon receiving the message from the inflammatory cells.
The Inflamed airways makes inhaling and exhaling difficult because of the narrow passage. Muscle Contraction At The Airways
Our airways are made up of many rings of smooth muscle. In normal situation, the smooth muscle is at relax mode. In this case our breathing is easy. Our smooth muscle is performing this relax state by a combination of very complex process which include adrenaline. Adrenaline is an important element in our body and they work instantaneously when being released by the adrenaline glands. Some of the functions of adrenaline are:
In normal situation, the adrenaline is combined with noradrenaline to produce adrenoceptors on the surface of the airway smooth muscle. With the right combination of adrenoceptors, the airways would work normal and our air passage is not inflamed. But when the combination is upset, the airways become inflamed and the air passage becomes narrowed. Breathing will then become a problem.
All these links that start from the foreign matters that present in the bronchi right up to the asthma inflammation state are in sequential order that happens within seconds. You may or may aware of it at all.
